Invitation for Proposal Submissions from Local Innovators: Enhancing Electricity Access in Rural Malawi

Calling all local Innovators working on Renewable Energy systems in Malawi

The CEANGAL project is excited to announce an invitation for local innovators in Malawi to submit proposals aimed at developing relevant technologies to improve electricity access in rural areas. This initiative seeks to harness local talent and ingenuity to create sustainable solutions that will have a lasting impact to communities.

Objective:

The primary goal is to identify and support innovative projects that can effectively address the challenges of electricity access in rural regions. We are looking for proposals that are feasible, scalable, and capable of making a significant difference in the lives of rural Malawians.
Funding up to the value of MWK 700,000 each will be provided for the execution of the successful projects.

Proposal Requirements:

Length: Proposals should not exceed 3 pages.

Content:

Introduction: Briefly describe the technology or solution you propose.

Problem Statement: Define the specific electricity access issue in rural areas that your proposal aims to solve.

Solution Description: Detail the technology or approach, including how it works and its potential impact.

Implementation Plan: Outline the steps needed to develop and deploy your solution, including any resources or partnerships required. The proposal execution should not exceed 6 months.

Scalability and Sustainability: Explain how the solution can be scaled to other areas and sustained over time.

Budget Estimate: Provide a rough estimate of the costs involved in the development and implementation of your solution.

Submission Guidelines:

Format: Proposals must be in Word or PDF format.
Deadline: Submissions must be received no later than 19 July 2024.

Submission Method:

Please email your proposals to atusligo-ceangal@atu.ie with the subject line “Electricity Access Innovators Proposal – [Your Name]”.

Selection Process:

A panel of experts will review all submissions based on their innovation, feasibility, impact, and alignment with our objectives. 2-3 selected proposals will receive support and potential funding to bring their solutions to life.

The funding outcomes will be communicated to the successful innovators by the 22nd of August 2024.
We believe in the power of local innovation to drive positive change and look forward to receiving your creative and impactful proposals.
