The CEANGAL project welcomes the new Co-PI Dr Gregory Ezra Tsonga Gamula overseeing the project activities in Malawi.
Dr. Gamula has over 30 years demonstrated experience in building and energy related public engineering projects, and in renewable energy systems research and education design and instruction.
He is currently the Dean of Engineering at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), with functions in academic and research management. He is also a member of the University senate and management team.
A graduate of the University of Malawi—The Polytechnic (1992), he possesses a master’s degree in renewable energy from the University of Oldenburg in Germany in 2000, and a PhD in environmental engineering specializing in energy and environment from China University of Geosciences in 2013.
Gregory’s research interests are in electrical power and machines, energy, including renewable energy, energy management and optimization, and hybrid energy systems. Professionally, he is a registered engineer, a member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK), the first vice president of the Malawi Institution of Engineers since 2017, and once served as a board member on the Board of Engineers.
Dr Gamula will be bringing his extensive renewable energy, community engagement and knowledge of the local policy and supporting agency structures to helping achieve the CEANGAL project objectives.
